About Cover Your Wizardry
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” — Arthur C. Clarke
We believe software should feel like magic: powerful, effortless, and maybe a little bit fun.
How It Started
It started with embroidery and way too much time in MS Paint.
As a hobbyist, I found myself spending hours on tedious tasks that had nothing to do with the actual craft I was trying to enjoy. One day I was manually reducing colors in an image, pixel by pixel, just so I could feed it into a clunky embroidery file converter. Somewhere in the middle of that process, it hit me: I’m a computer engineer. Why am I doing this manually?
So I built an app to do it for me. Then I realized the embroidery converter I was using was not only clunky but expensive. So I built a better one. More affordable, more user friendly, and designed in a way that was easier to use and didn’t involve multiple trips between my computer and embroidery machine to check if the sizing was right.
Once I had a couple of apps that were saving me real time, I figured other hobbyists might feel the same frustrations I did, and so, Cover Your Wizardry was born.
Why “Cover Your Wizardry”?
My husband likes to joke that I’m a wizard. Writing code, engineering little devices, making things work that didn’t work before… to him, it might as well be casting spells.
The name is a play on that idea. We handle the wizardry so you don’t have to. You bring the creative vision, and our apps cover the complicated technical magic behind the scenes.
Meet the Wizard
I, the wizard behind the scenes, am a software engineer in my thirties, based out of Utah. When I’m not writing code, you’ll probably find me LARPing, getting lost in a fantasy novel, or plotting my next creative project. I have a love for all things magical, and a husband who still thinks what I do is sorcery.
Cover Your Wizardry is a one-woman operation for now, built out of genuine frustration with overly complicated tools and a desire to make hobby life a little easier for everyone.
